But that's not unique with Wineskin or porting applications. If you allow it to overheat because it's working too hard you could damage it. There's absolutely 0% chance using a program like Wineskin would damage your computer.
So weigh your options, try it out and see how it works.
But you won't get the same performance using it as you would running a native Windows dual boot. So yes, WineSkin or Crossover or whatever you choose to use is perfectly legal and acceptable. I'm not sure why you don't want to dual boot, but it's what I chose to do and at that point you're literally running as a Windows machine so all applications work great (assuming you have the hardware to run it). That being said, your main issue could be that things don't run perfectly when ported. If you bought it, it's as legal on OSX as on Windows. If you pirated it, it's as illegal on OSX as on Windows.
